Holistic Modalities

REIKI
Reiki is a form of integrated therapy developed in Japan over a century ago. Usui Reiki is based on the principle that the therapist can transfer energy into the patient to activate the natural healing process of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being. Reiki is proven to promote deep relaxation and is used to assist the body's natural ability to heal both physically and psychologically. Reiki is a complement to traditional medicine, and not intended to replace or postpone seeing a regular healthcare provider. During a Reiki session, the body's energetic biofield is treated by the therapist laying hands directly above the body or directly on areas of the body. The sensation of warmth, cold or gentle tingling may be experienced during a Reiki session. Reiki is proven to promote deep relaxation, which is needed for the body to heal itself. Reiki is used around the world, and has increased significantly in demand over the last decade in the United States. For more on the process and benefits of Reiki, visit www.reiki.org

ENERGY HEALING / ENERGY MEDICINE
Energy healing is a therapy that employs a non-invasive, energy-based approach to health and healing. There are 7 main energy centers in the body called chakras for energetic flow, and each chakra correlates to specific body functions and organs. Energy travels throughout the body through meridians, or pathways for energy as observed in Eastern medicine practices. Chakras and meridians may be affected by emotional imbalances or trauma as well as illnesses, which in turn can affect the wellness of the entire physical body.  Chakras may be tested for imbalance, and chakra balancing and clearing of energy can harmonize the magnetic field around the body (also called the biofield) as well balance the emotional state of mind. In addition to addressing the proper flow of energy throughout chakras and meridians, energy medicine utilizes the stimulation of specific neurovascular  or meridian points that are directly related to internal organs and their proper functioning.

ACUPRESSURE
Acupressure is a non-invasive, hands-on procedure of applying gentle pressure to specific neurovascular and meridian points throughout the body, which are concentrated particularly in the head, hands and feet. These points are related to specific organs/organ groups, and may be stimulated with needles through acupuncture. There are no needles in acupressure though, rather targeted pressure applied and held using gentle pressure of the fingers to specifically targeted meridian points. Acupressure may be used to calm and reset the body's stress system, allowing for deep relaxation and better sleep.

TAPPING / EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE
Also known as E.F.T. or E.F.T. Tapping, this form of intervention draws on various theories of alternative medicine, neurolinguistic programming and energy medicine. EFT is an acupressure technique of stimulating "meridian" or acupuncture points which is used to relieve stress and anxiety while promoting healing. Tapping has been shown to assist in the proper processing of emotional stress caused by past trauma and can alleviate destructive repetitive thoughts.

EMOTION CODE/ APPLIED KINESIOLOGY
Emotion Code was developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson, and uses applied kinesiology to reveal trapped emotions  that the body can hold onto if left unrecognized and unprocessed. Applied kinesiology is manual muscle testing which may be used to uncover past trauma, which is often the underlying cause of imbalance and disharmony in the mind or body. Identification of past trauma can be an important first step in the healing process. Emotion Code / applied kinesiology can identify the damaging emotions experienced in past traumatic events, and often the age at which it occurred.

BLACK PEARL/ TRIPLE WARMER CALMER
This deeply relaxing, rebalancing service combines acupressure, gentle touch, energy balancing, chakra cleansing, reiki, essential oil therapy and direct energetic healing that leaves the client feeling relaxed and energized at the same time. The therapeutic process relaxes the body's hypothalamus and "triple warmer" meridian through neurolymphatic stimulation, which calms the "fight or flight" (or stress) reaction. Reiki and direct energetic healing may also be employed on areas of imbalance or injury. Essential oils may be incorporated. The balancing and relaxing therapy is performed with the patient lying down, and takes about an hour. It is extremely beneficial for stress relief, post traumatic stress, and overall wellness.

TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE
All holistic wellness services are administered utilizing the Trauma-Informed Care approach. Trauma-Informed care addresses past emotional trauma as the possible root cause of physical, emotional, and physiological illness and imbalance, and utilizes a team approach. Trauma-informed care addresses the underlying incidents of past emotional wounds in order to work toward regulation and proper healing of the mind as well as the body.  Trauma-informed care allows survivors of abuse, neglect and mental trauma to "rescript" their lives through addressing past traumatic events while gaining a deeper understanding of the damaging, long-term effects trauma has had on the mind and body. Michele is a Certified Trauma Integration Practitioner who practices techniques such as mindfulness exercises, sensory engagement and E.F.T. to integrate Trauma-Informed Care into Holistic Wellness Modalities, and may refer clients to a licensed therapist trained in advanced trauma therapy as needed.
